MEMORI-net Project is dedicated to stroke patients, their families, specialized caregivers, and persons at risk of stroke. In particular, MEMORI-net intends to develop standardized protocols for cognitive and motor rehabilitation with also a special attention to the occurrence of chronic pain.

memori-netOn Friday 14th June 2019, the Azienda ULSS 4 - Veneto Orientale organized a thematic day (Italian event) for patients, relatives, caregivers, and open to all people, entitled “Ischemic stroke: how to recognize it and how to intervene. The experience of the MEMORI-net project” (the original title: “Ictus ischemico: come riconoscerlo e come intervenire. L’esperienza del progetto MEMORI-net”). It is organized with the support of the Association of Amici del Cuore and the Ne.Po. Onlus.

memori-netStroke is one of the most pressing causes of intellectual and motor disability. Although it is an acute vascular damage to the brain, it can cause damage to the whole body, and these require interdisciplinary rehabilitation practices.
In the following, we show some examples of useful physiotherapic exercises during the post-stroke rehabilitation.

Pain Care

memori-netAccording to the International Association for the Study of Pain IASP, neuropathic pain is caused by a lesion or disease of the somatosensory nervous system. 

After a stroke, patients can experience central post-stroke pain (CPSP), peripheral neuropathies, and spasticity-related shoulder pain. Pain can be assessed by patient-reported questionnaires and by physical examinations.
